I contacted SBI Card customer care only to inquire about balance transfer rates and terms.

During the call, customer care asked about my credit card details in which I wish to transfer the amount , rate of interest and condition after which I explicitly declined to proceed and clearly stated that I did not want any balance transfer to be initiated.the process happened twice on the same call as customer care checking with other amount too but I clearly mention that I don’t want to process now , in response she asked me that if U want to opt balance transfer in future you can use the SBI card application or call customer care to book the balance transfer and the call was ended on that node .

No amount was finalized, no confirmation was given, and no consent—verbal or written—was provided by me

ON 10 December 2022,
I was shocked to find that ₹73,478.39 PLUS PROCESSING FEE PLUS GST had been debited from my card as a balance transfer, without my authorization.

On12th Dec 2022:
I immediately reported the issue via calls and emails, requesting reversal of the unauthorized transaction and associated charges.

Multiple to and from emails and call happened between me and sbi card to solve the matter but sbi card was arrogant and strongly falsify the statement on the email regarding dates and their mistake which was totally unaccepted .

SBI Card failed to provide timely resolution, during which interest and late payment charges were levied despite the dispute being active.

In April 2023, SBI Card reversed only the processing fee and one month’s late payment charge, which itself amounts to partial acceptance of fault. Later on their representative started to play with dates that we have reversed the late fee in January only but it shows in April which was totally a fraud attempt when I raised this issue then they come with other date that it was reversed in march which was shoed in April statement which clearly shows the intention of sbi card to harras the customer with their fraud and unfair practise . they have accepted their employee mistake in June 2024 when I raised the case in national consumer helpline and other places and copying them in email

Subsequently, collection representatives assured me that if I repaid the principal amount, all remaining charges would be reversed.

Acting in good faith and to close the matter, I fully repaid the principal amount of ₹73,000.

Despite this, SBI Card has continued to demand interest and late fees and has allowed persistent recovery calls, including instances of harassment.

Most importantly, in mid-2024 after writing email nationals consumer helpline and rbi copying SBI card I received a written email from SBI Card explicitly admitting that the transaction occurred due to staff error and that internal action was taken—yet I was still asked to bear the charges.

This position is untenable, unlawful, and contrary to basic banking and RBI principles. Once SBI Card has admitted that the transaction occurred due to its own employee’s mistake, no consequential interest or penalty can legally be recovered from the customer.

I would like to clearly place on record that:

This was an unauthorized transaction

SBI Card has admitted internal fault in writing

I have already repaid the entire principal amount

Continued demand for charges amounts to deficiency of service, unfair recovery, and harassment

I asked SBI card to provide me following

Any adverse reporting to credit bureaus

1cr compensation for harassing me mentally economically and physically
