I purchased a cashless policy for my mother on 15-04-2024 from Care Health Insurance. She experienced chest pain for the first time on 20-04-2024 and was admitted to Apollo DRDO Hospital, Hyderabad. However, the claim was rejected due to the policy is exclusion of claims within the initial 30-day period. Later, on 13-07-2024, my mother was again admitted to Apollo DRDO Hospital for chest pain. This time, the claim was rejected on the grounds of HEART DISEASE PRIOR TO POLICY, and I was informed of a permanent exclusion of heart-related coverage. Subsequently, her policy was also suspended. During the first claim, Care Health Insurance only cited the 30-day waiting period as the reason for rejection. Had they disclosed the information regarding a pre-existing heart condition at that time (as mentioned during the second claim), I could have withdrawn from the policy and opted for a more suitable plan based on my mothers health condition. I escalated the matter through two levels with the Care Health Grievance Cell, however, there was no resolution beyond the explanation provided during the second claim rejection. Email conversations regarding the grievance escalation are attached for your reference.
I have raised to IRDA and ombudsman, but the health insurance is not responding to the complaints.
