Subject: Complaint Regarding Unusually High Electricity Bill by CESC

Respected Sir/Madam,

I am filing this complaint as a consumer of CESC (Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation) regarding an unusually high electricity bill for the billing cycle of MAY JUNE JULY 2025, which is neither justified by our usage nor supported by any prior notice or warning.

Consumer Details:

  • Consumer Name: GHAZLA PARVEEN
  • Consumer ID
  • Address: 3RD-FRG-43 GARDEN REACH ROADBANGLA BUSTEELP-PB-1042KOLKATA 700024
  • Disputed Bill Amount:
  • Bill Date: 17/07/2025 Bill Amount: ₹13,374.62
  • Bill Date: 19/06/2025 Bill Amount: ₹8340.00
  • Bill Date: 19/05/2025 Bill Amount: ₹8410.00
  • Bill Date: 20/0/42025 Bill Amount: ₹8730.00
  • Average Monthly Bill may and june : ₹4000 t0 4500
  • Normal Average Bill: ₹[average amount]

The bill received for the above period is unreasonably higher than my normal monthly bill, despite no increase in electrical usage, appliances, or unusual consumption behavior. I have contacted CESC and submitted a complaint requesting a re-verification of the meter reading and billing calculation, but no satisfactory resolution has been provided so far.

This sudden billing spike has caused financial distress and is believed to be a result of a possible erroneous meter reading or technical fault, which should be fairly reviewed and rectified. Repeated attempts to resolve this matter with the service provider have failed, hence I am compelled to seek redressal through your esteemed forum.

Direct CESC to review and correct the disputed bill.
  1. Conduct a thorough inspection of the meter, if needed.
  2. Waive or adjust the excess amount and prevent disconnection during this dispute period.
  3. Take necessary action against the negligent behavior of the utility provider.
