I engaged Livspace for interior design and modular kitchen work and made payments in stages, totaling ₹95,000, based on commitments made during booking regarding professional design support, transparency in pricing, and applicable discounts.
During the design phase, several issues reflected lack of experience and improper planning from the design team. One major instance was tile color and visual matching. I specifically requested proper visuals to understand how selected tiles would look in the final design. However, despite spending significant time, the design team was unable to provide matching visuals and asked me to search options myself. Eventually, I had to personally find tile references online and share them with the team, even though design fees were already charged for this purpose.
Important functional aspects of the kitchen were also not properly planned. Provision for RO placement, which is a basic requirement in any kitchen, was not correctly designed. Initially, the RO was shown under the sink, and later it was stated that installation may not be feasible there. Even after raising this concern multiple times, no proper alternative provision was planned. Similarly, no dedicated space was provided for the gas cylinder within the kitchen design, forcing an external placement, which defeats the purpose of modular planning.
There have been repeated instances where design solutions resulted in compromises rather than improvements. Storage planning, wicker basket placement, and tall unit utilization were changed multiple times without clear technical justification. In wardrobes also, no provision was initially planned for locker/safe placement, and additional payment was asked later for basic functional changes. Requests such as side pull-out mirror and long door provisions were also declined citing limitations or additional cost, indicating lack of proper planning at the design stage.
There were also concerns regarding transparency in pricing and discounts. At the time of booking, discounts including ₹4,999 and ₹2,744 were communicated. However, during estimation these amounts were included in the project cost instead of being treated as committed benefits. Later, a minimum project value threshold of ₹3.51 lakh was introduced, and I was asked to increase spending by approximately ₹20,000 to retain the discounts, which was not clearly explained at the time of initial payment.
Due to repeated redesign discussions, unresolved design issues, and delays caused by these failures, significant time has been lost, and the project could not move forward as planned, leading to financial loss in terms of delayed rental income.
The complaint is being raised due to deficiency in service, lack of professional design planning, non-transparent pricing changes, and financial impact caused by delay and improper execution of committed services.
