It's been 6+ months since I filed a complaint on mahavitaran app (our electricity company). There has been no satisfactory reply or action from the company.
Our meter is faulty and doesn't show anything on screen but still we are billed regularly.

1.​

  • Call Customer Care – 1912 → ask for Service Request Number.
  • Write/email to:
  • Clearly state:
    • Meter faulty, no reading, complaint pending for 6 months.
    • Bills raised illegally on “average basis” must be withdrawn/refunded.
    • Demand meter replacement within 7 days.

2.​

  • File complaint with Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) through the Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum (CGRF).
  • Attach:
    • Copy of complaints (App screenshots, emails, SR number)
    • Last 6 months’ bills
    • Photos of faulty meter (blank screen)
MERC Rules: CGRF must resolve in 2 months. If not, escalate to Electricity Ombudsman, Mumbai.


3.​

  • File a case in District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Nashik.
  • Claim:
    • Refund of ₹13,000 (wrongly billed)
    • Compensation for harassment (₹25,000–₹50,000)
    • Direction to replace faulty meter immediately.
