My uncle from Karunagappally sent a parcel to Kasaragod, which is my hometown, containing a book through Professional Couriers. Today I received a call from Professional Couriers in Kasaragod town asking me to collect the parcel from their office. I told them that I would like it to be delivered to my house as was intended by the service since there’s nobody to collect it at home and also since they’re bound to do so by their own features in their website. The caller on the other side was a lady who was extremely rude and told me that they do not do home deliveries throughout Kerala, to which I asked them legal proof or rules on their website saying that they don’t do home deliveries in Kerala. She told me that they do not have such a thing and that’s just a “thing” followed in Kerala. When I insisted on seeing proof, she cut the call and upon calling again, I was forwarded to another man from the same office. He too said that they don’t do home deliveries in Kerala and when I asked for proof, he said that they don’t have any document other than an unsaid set of instructions that everybody follows. Again, he spoke very very rudely and when I asked again he told me to call karunagappally office. I did that and got to know from the lady that my uncle had booked the 60rs delivery which does not cover home delivery (again, there’s no information of this anywhere) and that’s they didn’t let him know there was a home delivery option probably why he thought the 60rs option would include home delivery. They apologised and told me that I could send over the extra money to Kasaragod branch and they’re obliged to do home delivery. When I asked her if professional couriers don’t do home deliveries, she told me that they do as it is on their website.
Now, I call back the Kasaragod office and they’re obliged berate me again with the same excuse. When I tell her that I was told to pay extra for home delivery, she tells me that I should have done that earlier. I told her that I was not given the option by their office and they only told me repeatedly that they never do home deliveries. Upon hearing this, she gets more agitated and tells me again that I never asked. How am I supposed to know this when this is not an option mentioned on their website? When I ask her about the website, she told me that they don’t follow the guidelines on their website and that they stick by their own rules. The name of this person is Navya, she works at the Kasaragod Town branch of Professional Couriers.
I asked her once again why I was never informed in the numerous calls before that I had the option for home delivery and she said that it’s not their duty to inform but my duty as a customer to know it regardless. My uncle was told that this payment was home delivery and that’s what he paid for whereas Kasaragod branch says that he should have known that without Professional Couriers explicitly saying it.
I told her that I’d like the home delivery done and I’d pay extra and she told me that she can do it but she only does it for disabled people, which again, is not explicitly stated in any way. She implied that they still don’t do home deliveries and what they’re doing for me is not home delivery but it is delivering to my home because I requested it, which is the most absurd thing I have heard today.
