Dear LG Electronics Customer Support Team,

I am writing this mail to express my deep disappointment and concern regarding the handling of my warranty claim for my LG LED TV, which has developed a major panel defect (white spots) while still under warranty. I would like to present all the facts in detail below for your immediate attention and resolution without any additional cost burden being passed on to me as a consumer.

1. Product and Warranty Details:
Product: LG LED TV

Date of Purchase: 23-November-2023

Warranty: 1-year standard + 2-year extended (clearly mentioned on the invoice)

Total Warranty Period: 3 years (Valid until 22-November-2026)

Invoice No. / Purchase Source: TEE020323500444/ reliance digital ambala

Location: Ambala, Haryana]

2. Nature of the Problem:
Recently, I noticed that the panel of the TV is showing multiple white spots, which seriously affect the viewing experience. This issue clearly falls under manufacturing or panel defect, and is covered by the extended warranty, as confirmed by your official policy and customer care team.

3. My Follow-up So Far:
I have already sent multiple emails and made numerous phone calls to LG Customer Care.

I was contacted by your team who acknowledged the panel defect and said the product is under warranty.

However, I was then told that since the same model is not available, I will be given a new model, but I must pay the price difference for the newer model.

I completely disagree with this demand as:

My product is still under valid warranty.

I bought the product during festival season with offers and discounts – that is not my fault.

The company’s inability to provide the same model is not the consumer’s responsibility.

The invoice clearly mentions “2-year additional warranty”, which makes it a 3-year total coverage.

I have also purchased multiple products of different brands, and never faced such harassment with any other brand.

4. Why I Am Not Willing to Pay the Difference:
This is not a voluntary upgrade from my side; it is a replacement under warranty.

The defect is not due to misuse, but is a known issue with some LED panels.

As a consumer, I am entitled to a free repair or replacement as per the warranty terms.

If the exact same model is unavailable, the company should provide an equivalent or better model at no extra cost.

The company’s inability to stock or supply the original model should not be passed on to the consumer as a financial burden.

5. Legal Rights as a Consumer:
I would like to remind LG Electronics that, under the Consumer Protection Act of India, the following rights apply:

Right to get defective products repaired or replaced at no additional cost during warranty period.

Right to fair treatment without mental harassment or unjust demands.

Companies cannot deny service or compensation under warranty terms.

Selling a warranty and then asking for additional payment for replacement is unfair trade practice.

6. Consequences If Not Resolved Fairly:
If LG fails to resolve this issue without asking for additional payment, I will be left with no choice but to:

File a formal complaint with the Consumer Forum / Consumer Court.

Send a legal notice to LG Electronics through my lawyer.

Post detailed reviews on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and tag your official handles, along with screenshots and voice call recordings as proof.

Share my experience with Ambala-based news platforms, consumer awareness groups, and product forums to raise awareness about this type of consumer harassment.

7. Evidence I Have Collected:
I have carefully documented all communication with LG, including:

Screenshots of emails sent and received.

Call recordings of conversations with your official service representatives.

Warranty card and invoice copies, clearly showing product and warranty details.

8. My Expectation from LG Electronics:
I respectfully demand the following resolution without delay:

Immediate panel replacement OR

Free replacement with an equivalent/newer model – WITHOUT any cost difference being charged to me.

A written confirmation that this replacement is being done under warranty and not as a goodwill gesture.

Apology for the mental harassment and multiple follow-ups I’ve had to make.

Service timeline and clear communication moving forward.

9. Why I Chose LG – and Now Disappointed:
As a long-time consumer, I have trusted LG for its product quality and after-sales service. I have purchased LG and other brand products for my home in the past based on the goodwill and reputation of the company. However, this experience has shaken my trust in the brand. For a large and respected company like LG, this kind of attitude toward genuine warranty claims is unacceptable and unethical.

10. Final Request:
Please treat this matter as high priority, and take immediate corrective action.

I request a written response from your side within 48 hours, failing which I will proceed with the consumer legal process and public awareness steps mentioned above. I hope for a responsible, professional resolution from LG without further escalation.

Regards,
Madhu bala

Hello @gaurav singh

We understand that the LG Electronics has not responded service requests properly, despite you having all the necessary supporting documents like bill and warranty card.

In such a situation, we suggest that you proceed by sending a legal notice to the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the LG Electronics, formally requesting a resolution of your issue and repair the TV as early as possible. Kindly allow them a 15-day period to respond to the notice.

If you do not receive any response within this timeframe, please revert to us. We will then guide you through the process of filing a case in the Consumer Forum.

Supporting Judgments against LG:

Karnataka - Bangalore 2nd Additional - LG Electronics India Private Limited., V/S Mr. Syed Mujaheed,

1. This complaint has been filed by the complainant under Section 35 of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 (hereinafter referred to as the Act) seeking direction against the opposite party to replace the TV as per AMC or to refund Rs.58,000/- which is the cost of the TV as per the bill, reimbursement of AMC amount of Rs.16,999/-, to pay Rs.10,000/- as compensation and to pay the cost of litigation expenses.

2. The case of the complainant in brief is as under;

The complainant “had - purchased LG LED TV model No0.43UG750T on 10.12.2017 with invoice dated 15.12.2017. The complainant availed AMC (Annual Maintenance Contract) from the opposite party vide AMC Card No.15043282 valid from 10.12.2017 to 09.12.2021. The said TV started malfunctioning for which the complainant raised a complaint with the opposite party who assured to replace TV panel but not responded. The complainant waited for 5 long weeks after lodging the complaint on 20th February 2021. The opposite party failed to rectify defect of the said TV. Hence, this complaint.

Order

The opposite party is directed to replace the said TV with the model or make acceptable to the complainant without any other hidden charges subject to deduction of cost of the existing TV. The complainant shall return the old TV subjected to exchange to the opposite party if it so desires. The parties shall comply the order within 30 days from. this date. Supply free copy of this order to the parties.

Telangana - Karimnagar - M/s. LG Electronics India Pvt Ltd V/S Vallepu Sudarshan

The averments of the complaint are that the complainant purchased on 21.03.2017 LG 32 LED TV of Model 32 LH512A with SL No.608PLXA040562 manufactured by the opposite party no.1 and sold by the opposite party no.2 for consideration of Rs.20,500/-. On the next day the complainant installed the TV but the same failed to function and on complaint made to the opposite party no.2, the complainant was given option either to pay an amount of Rs.14,000/- and hand over the TV set for replacement with a new TV set or to approach the opposite party no.3 for repairing of the TV set.

The complainant had taken the TV set to the opposite party no.3 who after inspection of the TV set, informed the complainant that there was problem with the panel of the TV set.

Since the date of purchase of the TV set, the family members of the complainant could not watch any programme on it even when it is the time that there is no life without a TV nowadays and the attitude of the opposite parties subjected the complainant to unwanted expenditure, inconvenience and mental agony and the same amounts to unfair trade practice and deficiency in service on part of the opposite parties.

ORDER

In the result, the complaint is allowed directing the opposite parties no.1 to 3 to pay compensation an amount of Rs.15,000/- along with costs of Rs.5,000/- to the complainant within one month from the date of receipt of copy of this order.

Please let us know if you need assistance in drafting the legal notice or have any further questions.

Best regards,
