Dear Team,

I just checked my standard chartered bank account statement and I found that they are charging me "PRGM MAINTENANCE CHARGES" every month, since last 1 year. We have opened this account with a commitment of Rs 15 lacs to be maintained in saving a/c or FD a/c. We are always maintaining more balance than this threshold.

I just called your customer care and your executive informed me that this account is in priority and I need to maintain a minimum 30 lacs balance. Neither I have requested for an upgrade nor I've provided any approval to change the account type. They can't randomly change my account type and start charging me without me having any information about the same.

This is the worst banking experience for me. Despite maintaining a huge amount with standard chartered, they are penalizing me for the upgrade, which I am not at all aware about. I have never received any SMS about the charges being deducted from my account. It is a simple case of cheating and no one is responding us despite many complaints.

Looking forward for support.

Regards,

Hello @TusharK

Before proceeding further, we recommend that you first send an email to the customer care department of the Standard Chartered Bank on the below mentioned email, clearly outlining your concerns and requesting to provide the details about your approval to change the account type.
Also mentioned that you have not requested to change the account type and also request them to refund the charges.

This step not only gives the company a chance to address the issue but also helps strengthen your case if you decide to file a complaint with the Consumer Forum later.
