I am an account holder of Bank of India.
Account Holder Name: Sanjana Prasad Saha
Account Number: 40731011005093
Transaction Date: 12 June 2026
Transaction Amount: ₹8,000 (Rupees Eight Thousand Only)
Transaction Reference: Paytm UPI - 20830598952
On 12 June 2026, I transferred ₹8,000 from my Bank of India Savings Account to my Bank of India e₹ (Digital Rupee) Wallet. However, the amount was neither credited to my e₹ Wallet nor returned to my Savings Account. My money remained blocked for 35 days despite repeated complaints made to the bank.
As the bank failed to resolve the matter within a reasonable time, I was compelled to file a complaint before the RBI Integrated Ombudsman. Only after the matter was escalated was the amount finally refunded after 35 days.
During this period, I suffered severe inconvenience, mental agony, and financial hardship. Because my money remained blocked, I was unable to make an important payment on time. I also lost the opportunity to use my own funds for income-generating activities and was deprived of the chance to earn potential profits during the entire period my money was wrongfully withheld by the bank. The prolonged delay caused me immense stress, anxiety, loss of peace of mind, and unnecessary hardship. This unreasonable delay constitutes a clear deficiency in banking service.
Although the principal amount has now been refunded, the refund alone does not compensate me for the mental distress, financial inconvenience, loss of opportunity, and negligence suffered due to the bank's failure to resolve the issue promptly.
In view of the above facts, I hereby request Bank of India to pay me ₹4,00,000 (Rupees Four Lakh Only) as compensation for the mental agony, harassment, financial inconvenience, loss of opportunity to earn profits, and deficiency in service caused by the unjustified delay of 35 days, along with any applicable interest for the period during which my funds remained blocked.
I request that my claim be considered and settled within 15 days from the date of receipt of this letter. Failing this, I shall be constrained to pursue appropriate legal remedies before the Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission and any other competent authority at your sole risk as to costs and consequences.
