I am filing this complaint to formally report a serious deficiency in service and gross negligence by Air India Express in relation to my scheduled flight (departure time: 6:00 AM) from Delhi.

As per the instructions mentioned on the ticket, passengers were required to report at least 45 minutes prior to departure. In compliance with this requirement, I reached the airport at approximately 4:30 AM, well within the stipulated reporting time.

However, despite adhering to the airline’s stated guidelines, the airline staff refused to conduct check-in, declined to accept my baggage, and denied me boarding without providing any valid justification. This action was arbitrary, unjustified, and in clear violation of the airline’s own policies.

It is pertinent to note that this was not an isolated incident. Several other passengers, who had also arrived within the prescribed reporting time, were similarly denied check-in and boarding. This indicates systemic mismanagement and a failure in operational procedures on the part of the airline. Furthermore, the ground staff displayed a lack of professionalism and failed to provide any assistance or alternative solution, leaving passengers stranded.

Due to this wrongful denial of boarding, I was compelled to book an alternative flight at my own expense, resulting in financial loss, significant inconvenience, and mental harassment.

The conduct of Air India Express amounts to clear deficiency in service, unfair trade practice, and negligence, causing avoidable hardship to passengers who had complied with all requirements.

In light of the above, I respectfully seek the following reliefs from this Honorable Commission:

  1. Compensation for the financial loss incurred in booking an alternative flight.
  2. Refund of the original ticket cost.
  3. Compensation for mental harassment and inconvenience caused.
  4. Any other relief deemed fit in the interest of justice.
I have attached copies of both the original ticket and the alternative booking for your reference. I am willing to provide any further information or documentation as required.

I request this Honorable Commission to take appropriate action and provide necessary relief at the earliest.

I hereby declare that the facts stated above are true to the best of my knowledge and belief.

Thanking you,

Yours faithfully,
Shabnam Siddiqui

Hello @Shabnam Siddiqui

After reviewing your complaint against Air India Express, we understand that you had a scheduled early morning flight from Delhi and had reportedly reached the airport well within the reporting time mentioned on your ticket. Despite complying with the airline’s stated check-in requirements, you alleged that the airline staff refused to complete your check-in process, did not accept your baggage, and ultimately denied you boarding without giving any proper justification.

You also mentioned that several other passengers faced a similar situation on the same flight, which according to you reflected poor management and lack of coordination by the airline staff at the airport. Due to the denial of boarding, you were allegedly forced to arrange an alternative flight at your own expense, resulting in financial loss, inconvenience, and mental harassment.

As per your complaint, you are seeking refund of the original ticket amount along with compensation for the additional expenses and hardship caused due to the incident.
