Dear Sir/Madam,

My name is Archana, and I am writing to formally lodge a complaint about the negligence, loss of my belongings, and mental harassment caused by Mugdha Silk Saree Store, Jayanagar. This experience has been both distressing and frustrating, and I am seeking your intervention to address the matter appropriately.

Incident Details

On November 19, 2024, I visited the Mugdha Silk Saree Store in Jayanagar with the intention of purchasing a saree. Since I was coming directly from my office with a friend, we were carrying multiple bags. Among them were my laptop bag and an additional handbag that contained essential office items such as a notebook, tiffin bags with food, coffee mugs, a water bottle/sipper, and other office-related essentials. Upon entering the store, the staff permitted me to retain my laptop bag but required me to hand over the handbag, which contained items worth approximately INR 8,000, at the entrance. They issued a token for the bag as proof of deposit.

After completing my purchase and making the payment, I inadvertently left the store without collecting my handbag. Upon reaching home and realizing this oversight, I immediately contacted the store’s reception team via phone. I explained the situation in detail, informed them that I still had the token, and assured them I would collect the bag later since I had upcoming outstation travel plans.

Follow-Up Attempts

On November 27, 2024, my husband, Karteek Kumar, visited the store with the token to retrieve the bag on my behalf. However, the staff informed him that they were unable to locate the bag. They assured him that they would review their CCTV footage and promised to follow up with us. My husband left his mobile number at the store for further communication. Despite this, no one from the store reached out to him, and repeated calls and reminders from our side yielded no progress.

Personal Visit to the Store

After several failed attempts to resolve the issue remotely, I personally visited the store on December 21, 2025, to address the matter directly. Initially, the staff continued to offer excuses and even attempted to dismiss my concerns. However, upon my insistence, they admitted that they did not have any CCTV recordings available and claimed that the bag was lost. They further added that an employee who had left the store on the day of my visit might have taken the bag.

Unfulfilled Agreement

To resolve the issue, the store staff agreed to reimburse my loss. We mutually decided that I would place an order for replacement items worth INR 8,000, which the store would pay for. Acting on this agreement, I placed the order on Amazon. However, when the delivery was scheduled, the store refused to honor their commitment and stated that they would not pay the agreed amount, thus reneging on the arrangement.

Items Lost

The following items were in the lost handbag along with some cash.

Tiffin Boxes (3)
Water Mug (1)
Coffee Mug (1)
Two large IKEA bags

Compensation Requested

Due to the store’s negligence, breach of trust, and the mental harassment I have endured during this prolonged ordeal, I am seeking compensation of INR 200,000. This amount includes the value of my lost belongings and compensation for the distress caused by the store’s unprofessional and unethical behavior.
