I've faced very similar issues against Aakash institute though I didn't file a complaint in consumer court back then since I was already worried about the credit score being ruined and my business (Constructor) revolves around taking loans, putting the money in the business and then benefit from the profits. So I didn't take necessary actions back then because it would've hampered the situation for me even more. It will be precisely a year to this episode this June.
As for the monetary details :
I was pressurized into enrolling my child post scholarship examination that was conducted in October 2024.
They constantly phoned, sent emails, texts regarding counselling sessions even after being requested not to.
After my child's genuine interest I considered taking a visit in December 2024, they told me about the financial plans they offer (Lum sum or one time), the academics and a branch visit. Upon close inspection and considering my child's interest I considered Aakash as an option for his coaching in 11th grade for NEET.
On 29th December, they repeatedly called my son, about how the scholarship benefits will exhaust if we don't enroll before 31st December.
I enrolled my child on 31st December, 2024 at a Lum-Sum payment of 1,35,000 for a 2 year integrated program of NEET.
The installments promised were 18, and was financed by a private firm Propelld .
My son was in 10th grade when he was enrolled, and the classes were supposed to start after his CBSE Board examinations, on 22 March, 2025.
Now the classes started 3 months after the first 3 installments being paid which was fine until, my son decided to not continue his studies with Aakash.
He asked to drop out because the lack of proper teachers, inconsistent coaching timings (sometimes it would be 12 to 4, other day it would be 10 to 2, or 2 to 6, which was by the way not mentioned at all by any academic head/branch head/counsellor.), and mostly given the lack of attention to students for academic queries.
These reasons contributed in his decision of dropping out from aakash and continue his studies with school he was going prior to these episode and he was fine with it. In fact, he was happy with the teachers there.
Now when asked for a refund, they revolted back. Said that a refund is not possible.
My son decided to drop out one and a half later after the classes started, which was like 5 and a half months since the EMI's had been started.
By the time we asked for refund we had already paid 32k of the 1,35,00 total amount.
They said that the best they can do is write an application to the head branch which would take atleast 2 weeks to get a reply back.
Note that during this time they didn't stop the on going EMI's, and continued arguing and threating about ruining the cibil score.
I have to step back when he mention Cibil score considering the business I told you about.
They took 2 weeks to reach out and said that they will ending all the ongoing EMIs only after a certain threshold limit which was 54k.
I was still fine with it to some point, until they called me back again a month later with a notice that now the threshold limit has been raised to 70k for no apparent reason at all.
Took them about a month more and then closed my case at a whopping 82k.
Now note the point that my son only went to classes for one and a half month but was charged 82k which is like 60% of the total amount and 6% of the days he went out of the program of 24 months.
I vaguely discussed this issue with a legal acquaintance but wasn't serious because I was too caught up with the Cibil score issue.
I told you about my adversity because I resonated with you, and as a call for help if you have sought any legal advice regarding this.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you for listening, and
Sorry for coming up with the elaborated sentimental details.
