I am filing this complaint against MakeMyTrip regarding denial of a full refund under the “Visa Protection / Visa Refund Guarantee” feature included in my flight booking (Booking ID: NN2AKDOA78388685538)

At the time of booking, I was explicitly shown that I would be eligible for a 100% refund in case of visa refusal. This assurance was a key factor influencing my purchase decision, and I paid for the booking relying on this representation.

Subsequently, my visa application was rejected, and I cancelled my flight booking. However, instead of honoring the promised benefit:

  • I am being offered only a partial/standard refund of INR 15,000.
  • There is no option available on the platform to raise a visa protection claim, despite this feature being part of my booking.
  • Customer support has been unresponsive and has incorrectly stated that cancellation voids my eligibility, which was never mentioned in the terms at the time of purchase.
This constitutes:

  • Deficiency in service
  • Misrepresentation of services
  • Unfair trade practice, as the promised benefit is being denied without valid justification
I have retained screenshots of the offer clearly stating “100% refund on visa refusal” and evidence showing the absence of any claim mechanism.

Relief Sought:
I request the following:
Immediate processing of the full refund as promised under the visa protection policy
Clear explanation for denial of claim and removal/unavailability of claim option
If the issue is not resolved promptly, I reserve the right to escalate the matter before the appropriate Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission.
