Complaint from a customer against Airtel DTH
I'm using Airtel DTH which was recovered by Airtel dealer in November 2024 where the balance was 1286 and they confirmed that the amount will get refunded after the hardware recovery. but the account was active and tried reaching out to Airtel customer care multiple times and they confirmed i will receive refund in 3 months. Post that also it was active and balance reduced to 603. Then in March 2025 they deactivated it and without using it balance got reduced. Airtel team confirmed that I receive a complete refund and it didn't not happen till now. Whenever I call them there is no proper response and disconnecting the call most of the times. For this refund, I have talked to more than 25 customer care executive and each call around 1 hour which made so much depression and even though after that amount is not refunded yet

🧾 Step 3: Understand Airtel's Refund Policy​

It's important to note that certain charges, such as hardware and installation fees for Airtel DTH HD or Hybrid Boxes, are non-refundable. However, if your refund pertains to service issues or overpayments, you are entitled to seek redressal.

⚖️ Step 4: File a Complaint with the Consumer Forum​

If previous steps don't yield results, consider filing a complaint with the Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission.
  • Send a Formal Legal Notice:​

    • Before filing case in the Consumer Forum, we suggest you to send a Legal Notice to the CMD of Airtel DTH, detailing the issue and requesting immediate refund of the deposit amount. Send this via registered post, ensuring you have proof of delivery.

⚖️ Legal Precedents: Consumer Forum Rule Against Airtel DTH​

There have been instances where consumer forum have ruled in favor of customers facing similar issues:
  • Ludhiana Consumer Court: Airtel DTH V/S Deepak Aggarwal - Airtel DTH to pay Rs.6000/- in lumpsum to the complainant within one month from the date of receipt of copy of the order.


  • Andhra Pradesh - Nellore: 1. M/s Airtel DTH Company, rep by its Nellore Area Service Manager V/S Chekki Reddy Abhiram Reddy,S/o Krishna Reddy. Chief Planning Officer(Retired), aged 78 years - Airtel DTH liable to pay Rs.15,000/- (Rupees fifteen thousand only) to the complainant as compensation for mental agony suffered by him and also payable Rs.2,000/- (Rupees two thousand only) to him towards costs of the complaint within one month from the date of receipt of the order.
